Headlined by spoken word artist and poet Muhammad Oda, showcase your talents and passions to make this a night to remember! Whether you are a seasoned veteran or a first time performer, we can't wait to see your stuff! Open to spoken word artist, poets, comedians, musicians, and more!
When we celebrate Black History Month, we aren’t just celebrating Black history, we are celebrating American history. By collectively and consciously honoring Black history, we come together and continue to rewrite the narrative of our diverse nation. All performers are welcomed regardless of ethnicity!
Please note that string instruments will not be permitted.

About Muhammad Oda
Muhammad Oda is a writer, poet, lyricist, and entrepreneur. He currently stands as the youth director at Dar Al Hijrah. He is the Co-Founder and former Program Director of Center DC. And the founder and Executive director of chocolate city. Muhammad has developed curriculum ranging from youth leadership to performance techniques to Islamic Education for various communities and organizations in San Diego and the DMV.
In his spare time, Muhammad enjoys hanging out with family friends, hitting up various coffee shops, learning from scholars and students of Deen and discovering new things. Together with his wife Lauren Schreiber, the duo organizes events, encourages community dialogue around creative expression, hosts workshops, and empowers individuals to produce and consume art that lines up with their values.
