Join us SATURDAY for MISS-UNDERSTOOD as we examine some of the most discussed—and often misunderstood—texts in Islam regarding women.
📍 4401 Fair Lakes Ct, Fairfax, VA
🗓 April 4th
⏰ 7–10 PM
Led by Imam Anwar Arafat, we will engage directly with primary sources, including the verse commonly referred to as the “striking” āyah, the hadith about women comprising a majority of Hellfire, and other narrations and scriptural passages that raise difficult questions.
Each text will be approached academically as we:
Analyzing language, context, and interpretation
Examining classical scholarship and differing views
Distinguishing between cultural assumptions and textual evidence
This is not a surface-level discussion or a reactionary response. It is a structured, critical walkthrough of the sources themselves—aimed at understanding what the texts actually say, how they have been understood, and where misconceptions arise.
Come prepared to think carefully, question honestly, and engage the tradition with depth.
