Please join us for our monthly UmmaTea session, open to the community, hosted by ADAMS Young Adults in partnership with ADAMS Qurtuba and Qahwa Cafe!
How can we harness the spiritual power of Ramadan Nights while balancing our daytime responsibilities?
We have all been there. Ramadan is approaching, and you begin with a list of things you want to stop and start doing. Top of the list for many of us is our nighttime worship. Taraweeh, 20 rakat, maybe Qiyam and then waking up again for Tahajjud before heading to the masjid for Fajr. The atmosphere of Ramadan is special— ibadah, especially at night, illuminates our hearts. But for many of us, this rigor is not sustainable. Our daytime obligations, (work, family, household chores), begin to demand us to be present and not fatigued. Slowly, some of us find ourselves letting go of our Ramadan goals before the month is even halfway through— something's gotta give!
Allah SWT reminds us in the Quran about the importance of nightime worship. "Indeed, the righteous will be amid Gardens and springs, ˹joyfully˺ receiving what their Lord will grant them. Before this ˹reward˺ they were truly good-doers ˹in the world˺: they used to sleep only little in the night, and pray for forgiveness before dawn." (51:15-18)
Despite the challenges of our moment when striving to be among the righteous, the example of our Messenger SAW is evergreen. Join us this Friday (1/30) as we prepare together to welcome the month of Ramadan, beginning with the Sunnah of our Prophet SAW as the blueprint for how to illuminate our nights, to guide our days.
Please come with a notebook, a pen, and your own water bottle. Tea and snacks will be served as usual. Please arrive on time— we will open the doors after Isha for tea time and then begin the main program after promptly at 8:30PM insha’Allah.
We welcome all members of our community over 21 to attend this event! As we provide free tea and snacks, we ask that if you are able, to please purchase a ticket and/or gift a donation to allow us to keep this event free and accessible to ADAMS Young Adults and Young Professionals! May Allah SWT reward you all and may He continue to protect and bless our community.
