About the Instructor/Artist

Rifat S Taher is a visual artist based in Virginia. Her art work explores geometric patterns found in nature, traditional art, and architecture, drawing on these sources to construct a visual language consisting of simple forms, repetition, precision, and linearity. The works are a deeper investigation into the mathematical insights and symmetry systems at play, as well as the transformative power of seeing beyond the surface. Her methods are rooted in traditional practices and she uses the compass and straightedge for construction. Embracing both structure and spontaneity, her practice continues to evolve and invite viewers to experience a space where mathematical clarity creates a contemplative exploration of forms.
