The Sunnah of Grappling: The Mufti & The Martial Artist

Join us Saturday for a special event with visiting speaker Mufti Hussain Kamani!

Moderated by the director of Qurtuba Ibraheem Naqeeb, Mufti Kamani will discuss the importance of physical strength, the basis Martial Arts and wrestling have in Islam, and the ⁠connection between the outward physical and inward spiritual. Open to attendees ages 18+

The event takes place in the Main Musallah at ADAMS Ashburn.  Doors open at 6:15 with the main event starting at 6:30.  Tickets for this event are mandatory and capped at 200 spots. Donations are always greatly appricated to help support future events for the Muslim youth and young adults!

About Mufti Hussain Kamani

Mufti Kamani is Director of the Qalam Seminary and a senior faculty member, where he teaches Hadith, Fiqh, and Tazkiyah. With over two decades of experience in teaching and community leadership, he has mentored and trained over a thousand students, many of whom now serve as imams, chaplains, educators, and leaders across the United States.

Born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, to a Hindu convert to Islam and a Muslim father, Mufti Kamani began his pursuit of sacred knowledge at a young age, traveling internationally to memorize the Quran. He later undertook rigorous studies in the United Kingdom, completing a seven-year Alimiyyah program followed by postgraduate specialization in Islamic Law and Legal Verdicts with a focus on the Hanafi Madhab. Since 2015, he has served as the Imam at Masjid Al-Rahman in Carrollton, where he leads prayers, delivers sermons, and conducts weekly educational programs.

Dedicated to preserving classical scholarship while addressing contemporary challenges, he has made thousands of hours of lectures freely available through the Qalam Podcast, ensuring accessible Islamic learning for students worldwide. Beyond his academic work, he has trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for over 14 years.

About Ibraheem Naqeeb

Ibraheem Naqeeb serves as the Qurtuba Community Education Manager at ADAMS Center, where he oversees the development and coordination of educational and community programming across all branches. A graduate of Zaytuna College with a degree in Islamic Law & Theology, Ibraheem brings deep scholarly insight and practical experience in fostering meaningful community engagement.

Before joining ADAMS, he served as the Assistant Director of Student Life at Zaytuna College, where he supported student development through programs that nurtured both academic excellence and spiritual growth.

At Qurtuba, Ibraheem is committed to expanding access to high-quality educational experiences and ensuring that Qurtuba remains a vital platform for lifelong learning and spiritual enrichment within the ADAMS community.
